A few words about me
Story
My name is Mathias Lönnström, I was born in 1986 and my interest for images was born in 2001. A couple of years later I initiated my studies in photography, cinematography and editing. The studies mostly concentrated on cinematography which was a good way to learn about light and storytelling with images. On my spare time I taught myself photography in the school’s studio and in the field.
In spring 2007 I bought my first digital SLR camera. This was one of those days I don’t think I’ll ever forget. That camera got to be in busy use, in for example steel factories, TV studios, weddings, survival games and in a helicopter above the city of New York, before becoming one in the line of retired cameras.
Most of all I like to photograph people and nature. I like combining photography with retouching software to create exactly what I want and to give the viewers that little extra they deserve.
Through my company, Grandita Ltd, I make videos for artists, companies and other organizations. Smaller projects I take care of myself, but for larger ones I bring along people from my professional network.
I also teach the next generation of phtographers, videographers and graphic designers (both adolescents and adults). My source of inspiration is the good work of other people and that I get plenty of when I teach.
My videos and pictures have been awarded and won prizes in both national and international competitions, but so far I've only had exhibitions in Finland. My pictures have been used in internationally distributed catalogues, magazines and web articles
I have no prejudice towards different assignments and in the future I hope to get to photograph more portraits, landscapes and effect filled action pictures as well as create short films, music videos and commercials.
